Disney - Day 2

Our first day at the parks was Labor Day, and we were a little worried about the crowds, but we have become slaves to the itineraries from Tour Guide Mike, and he hasn't steered us wrong yet. We've managed to hit almost all attractions without a line or just a very short one, only to see a long line there later. Labor Day at MGM Studios was no exception.

We had a great day at MGM and enjoyed everything there. Disney World is calling this "The Year of a Million Dreams", and they are granting wishes each day. Nina was lucky enough to get selected to "have her wish come true" when we were waiting for the Ariel - Voyage of the Little Mermaid show to start. A Disney castmember asked her to be his "first mate" and help him introduce the show by saying, "Welcome Aboard!" Nina clammed up and couldn't even tell the poor guy her name, let alone practice saying her line, so Elise got pulled in on the wish too. Elise did a great job. She stood on stage, said her line, and got a big applause. Both girls received a really nice certificate signed by Ariel and Prince Eric, along with a bunch of stickers, bookmarks, etc. That really made our first day feel special.

Lunch was the character meal at Hollywood and Vine which was excellent - yummy food, great character interaction, and a nice break in the middle of the day. We all enjoyed that. Nina finally came out of her shell a bit with the characters and posed with a couple of them without JC having to be in the picture too!

After late afternoon naps, we decided to hit Downtown Disney once again for dinner and some shopping. We're not so much big fans of Downtown Disney, I think we just really enjoy the peaceful boat ride there and back! We had dinner at Wolfgang Puck Express, and none of us were too impressed with that. We were wishing we had just gone for a repeat at Earl of Sandwich! Here are the girls on the boat ride back - not sure what Nina's long face is for!

And Nina back in the room showing off two of her purchases from the "grandmother fund" (both grandmothers gave the girls some spending money which has made for wonderful shopping adventures for both of them.)

Favorite Part of the Day:
Elise: High School Musical Pep Rally
Nina: Beauty and the Beast Show
Ann: Ariel for the air conditioning!!
JC: Ariel Show
